Heavy Equipment & Manufacturing

Fire, water, chemical contamination all wreak havoc on machinery causing rust, corrosion, failures and product defects. Repairs cannot be preformed until the equipment is cleaned and replacement may take months from overseas suppliers. The Juvenaire Disaster Response team can put your company back in business fast!

By first analysing with chemical testing and careful inspection, Juvenaire thoroughly investigates the adverse factors affecting your equipment. Corrosion, water intrusion, lubrication failure, metal pitting, etc. Are all evaluated. From this careful analysis the Juvenaire team immediately establishes the cleaning procedures required to restore your equipment, all within a matter of hours after arriving at your site.

Within a few hours of initial evaluation, the Juvenaire team begin the process of recovering your equipment with a minimum of production interruption and a swift return to capacity.

  Electronic Recovery
Electronic equipment from computers to phone systems to sophisticated medical equipment is surprisingly resilient if properly restored after water, smoke, moisture and other contamination. Juvenaire has been trained by Asset Recovery Technologies (Americas leading training and asset recovery specialists) in the techniques to recover electronic equipment. Accurately assessing corrosion, degree of contamination, impact of water and moisture, etc. Are all key elements of the technically sophisticated approach to recovery.

Utilizing state of the art techniques, Juvenaire technicians have been trained in methodologies to safely remove rust, corrosion, contamination, water, and moisture from equipment after fire, flood or other catastrophes.

By careful inspection and oftentimes chemical analysis, Juvenaire can quickly determine:

• The viability of recovery
• The proper steps and cleaning agents
• Costs associated with restoration
• Degree of damage for post restoration repairs

From this, Juvenaire can develop a “Recovery Plan” with associated costs and a timeline in just a few hours. Unlike some other companies who “Guess” at the contamination issues after a fire, Juvenaire’s proprietary procedures for chemical testing gives answers on type of chemicals involved after a fire, degree of corrosiveness, environmental safety issues, all verified in just a few short hours.

The Dust Story
Most electronic equipment has cooling fans vents to provide a stream of air to cool against the severe build up of heat generated during operation. Over time these fans draw dust into the electronics covering the printed circuit cards and other components.

After a disaster such as fire or water damage, water and moisture may come into direct contact with computers, phone systems, medical equipment etc. Additionally, water from the event raises the relative humidity in the environment causing the dust on the electronic components to immediately absorb this moisture. It’s the moisture in the dust which begins to corrode the electronic components causing short circuiting and additional damage to the electronic equipment.

Additionally should the equipment be switched on, galvanic or electrolytic corrosion ensures. We this occurs, electricity within the electronic components flows through the corrosion.

Left unmitigated, the electronic components will corrode over time and may produce intermittent failures, such as data loss, computer failure or network problems.

Recognizing that high humidity may be as damaging as direct water contact, Juvenaire rapidly starts to mitigate through stabilizing the environment by reducing the humidity. Once stabilized, further inspection of the plant and equipment can be inspected and recovery procedures performed.

Chemical Testing & Analysis
The key to proactive environmental assessment, accurate damaged assessment, and appropriate restoration is an understanding of the contamination and its potential impact on electronic and mechanical equipment. Without understanding the composition of the contaminants, repair versus replace decisions cannot be made and standard restoration procedures may cause more harm that good.

Juvenaire Technicians understand that different contaminants will have dramatically different effects on equipment reliability and restorability. This is why chemical testing and analysis is incorporated into all of our damage assessments after fire, smoke, water, dust and other contamination events.

The Recovery Steps
• Inspection and evaluation by Juvenaire
• On-site chemical testing for corrosion
• Establishment of a recovery plan
• Stabilization of plant and equipment
• Removal of smoke, moisture and other contaminants
• Return to service
• Complete documentation for insurance purposes
