Modern commercial air conditioning systems these days
delivers the majority of air we breathe through a spider web of ducting above the ceiling space which is normally out of site
and out of mind, but have you ever wondered how clean the air really is that is coming out of air grill and into the living and
working environment
The filters used in air conditioning systems these days are not designed to keep out all the dust and therefore some of this
dust accumulates inside the ducting. Under the right conditions
this accumulated dust can provide an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and fungi which ultimately travels throughout the ducted system and into the living, working or office environment.
In many cases, air conditioning ducts are contaminated
throughout the construction phase of the new building and
are never properly cleaned prior to commissioning.
The Australian Standards (AS 3666.2) clearly states that all air conditioning ducting should be inspected on an annual basis
and if found to be dirty, to be cleaned.
